Friday afternoon I got to leave the office early and go to my favorite church service of the year. I love Good Friday services and love even more spending it with my grandmother. After church we met my mom for happy hour and apps at Bone Fish. Black Cherry mojito’s for me and Classic martini’s for my mom and aunt. We shared mussels, shrimp and scallops and a piece of key lime pie. It was a perfect Friday night!
Saturday it was early to the gym to squeeze in a workout before Funday with the cutest 2-year old I know. Workout was hard and had about a dozen suicide burpees involved (awful suicide sprints with burpees @ every line, who comes up with this stuff?!)
Before I knew it I was out the door and headed to the Please Touch Museum with the Jennington’s! We had a great day exploring the museum and letting LittleMan pick what and where we went. He loved every second of it. We refueled with getting him his First Philly Cheesesteak! Not sure he ate much of the steak but he loved the roll, fries, and watching the pigeons fly around. And we walked our cheesesteaks off along Boathouse Row & Kelly Drive. LittleMan and I swam, watched Toy Story, chatted and hung out all night. It was perfect and one of those days that was really needed. Lots of catching up and fun filled the day!
Sunday was just as great. I was my own Easter Bunny and bought myself my first road bike!!! Isn’t she beautiful?! We are already BFF probably because I haven’t taken her on a ride yet and found reasons to hate her. The purple handlebars is how I spotted her on the rack and one of the reasons I knew it was a perfect match! But once I took a quick test ride around the block I knew it was a good fit. Followed by a killer Easter Dinner full of lamb and all the Greek goodness my YiaYia cooked up!
Woke up this morning ready to go, missing the weekend and looking forward to next weekend…

First trip to Philly would not be complete without a #cheesesteak from@#patskingofsteaks (at Pat’s King of Steaks)

Hard to believe a year ago we were getting ready to receive our M.Ed’s! @rld806 #studentaffairs #highered #umaine #hed
Thinking about the summer…
Thinking about how it is going to be different…
Thinking about our little house, the place that holds my heart is not going to be the cornerstone…
7 months ago I posted how I couldn’t wait till summer 2013.
That first day sitting out on the dock eating bagels & cream cheese mapping out the summer with my sister, mom, best friend, as my Dad opened up the boat and Gunner barked at the ducks swimming by. How I have longed for that morning. Putting our season beach tags on our chairs and packing coolers to last us the day in the sun. That first nights sleep after being in the sun all day, so exhausted but so excited to know you get to do it over and over again for the next 3 months.
Now I sit here and wonder what this summer will bring. Our little house waits to be demolished and rebuilt. FEMA letters float around the dinner table and conversations about the insurance company dance off our tongues. Things we never thought we would talk about. We used to plan in our heads the way we would rebuild our house when it came time for that. And now we think about how we want someone to recreate exactly what it was. Why would we want something fancy? We loved that shack with all our hearts and it loved us back, sandy feet, sunscreen covered bodies and all.
Summer 2013 is not going to be anything we expected but it is going to be good because we will make it that way. Day trips to the shore will happen! And trying out new weekend adventures, maybe even breaking out our pool membership. A quick trip to Florida’s Gulf Coast!
It will be the first time in 12 summers we won’t pack up the cars Friday evening and head to the shore. Our worlds are a little confused as we approach this new uncharted territory.
Summer 2014, dare I say it…I am SO excited for you to get here. New house, and new memories to be made! So make Summer 2013 wonderfully different so we can get to the new!
